Amy Hansen is a technologist with a love for education and knack for graphic design, photography, video/audio editing, motion graphics, and web development.
Education
I graduated from Brigham Young University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Technology and Engineering Education. From electronics to video production to architectural drafting to coding, taking a range of courses allowed me to expand my knowledge and skillset in areas of applied engineering and computer science, alongside my emphasis in multimedia.
My student-teaching experience in Washington, D.C., propelled me into curriculum building and course delivery, while being the capstone to receiving my certification in Secondary Education for the State of Utah.
After a decade of professional experience in education, technology, and design, I embarked on my Masters of Science in IT Management at Tulane University, completing my degree in 2025. During this program, I built upon and applied my skill stack in tech, cybersecurity, and business.
Experience
I began my teaching career as a Middle School Math Interventionist at The Willow School (formerly Lusher Charter School). The following year, I taught Career and Technical Education (CTE) classes—Computer Programming, Game Design, Mobile App Development—at Innovations Early College High School.
After teaching in the classroom, I became the Academic Technology Specialist at Louise S. McGehee School, where I consulted teachers K-12 on how to better implement technology into their curriculum and classroom.
Aiming to further apply my skills and professional development in emerging industries, I accepted an opportunity to work remotely as an instructional designer at Udacity, an EdTech organization in Silicon Valley.
With growing entrepreneurial endeavors, I took on independent contract work full-time in multimedia content creation, while maintaining my commitment to education as a substitute teacher.
Now, I am a Media Content Developer at Tulane University, where I not only combine my passion for education and creative design, but also work towards a greater purpose in developing technology-rich courses for the School of Professional Advancement.
